Petrova reaches Bell Challenge semis
Quebec City, QC (Sports Network) - Top-seeded Russian Nadia Petrova was among Friday's quarterfinal winners at the $175,000 Bell Challenge.
The world No. 11 Petrova handled Hungarian Melinda Czink 6-1, 6-4 at PEPS at Laval University.
Canada's Aleksandra Wozniak, the fifth seed, had no problems in her matchup with Russia's Galina Voskoboeva 6-2, 6-2.
Sixth-seeded American Bethanie Mattek landed in the final four with a 7-6 (9-7), 6-1 victory over fellow American Melanie Oudin here on Day 5.
In a match between unseeded players, America's Angela Haynes bounced back from a first-set loss to down France's Nathalie Dechy 2-6, 7-6 (7-2), 6-3.
Petrova will face Haynes in the semifinals while Wozniak will battle Mattek.
The 2008 Quebec champion will collect $28,000.
