  • Wozniak reaches quarters at Quebec City


    Quebec City, QC (Sports Network) - Canadian Aleksandra Wozniak reached the quarterfinals at the $175,000 Bell Challenge after defeating American Carly Gullickson.

    The fifth-seeded Wozniak made quick work of her opponent, defeating Gullickson by a 6-3, 6-2 margin. She will meet Galina Voskovoeva in the quarters after the Kazakhstani defeated Canadian Rebecca Marino 6-1, 6-3.

    In other second-round action, France's Nathalie Dechy upset seventh-seeded Belarusian Olga Govortsova 6-1, 7-5 and American Angela Haynes handled Frenchwoman Severine Bremond 6-2, 6-4. Dechy and Haynes will meet here on Friday.

    Friday's other quarters will pit top-seeded Russian Nadia Petrova against Hungarian Melinda Czink and sixth-seeded Bethanie Mattek versus fellow American, 17-year-old Melanie Oudin.

    The 2008 Quebec champion will collect $28,000.
