Blake advances to final in Houston
Houston, TX (Sports Network) - Top-seeded American James Blake has moved to the final of the $436,000 U.S. Men's Clay Court Championships.
Blake made relatively quick work of eighth-seeded Spaniard Oscar Hernandez, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) at River Oaks Country Club on Saturday and will now pursue his first clay-court championship.
The 28-year-old Blake has claimed 10 singles title during his career, but has yet to experience success on this surface.
Blake's final opponent will be seventh-seeded Spaniard Marcel Granollers- Pujol, who knocked off unseeded American Wayne Odesnik, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 in the first semifinal of the day.
Granollers-Pujol, 22, will be making his first career ATP final appearance.
The 2008 titlist here will pocket $68,800.
