Movsisyan, Morales lead RSL to victory over 'Quakes
Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - Real Salt Lake rebounded from its first home loss of the season a week ago to pick up just its second road victory of the year, 3-2, at Buck Shaw Stadium vs. the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.
Yura Movsisyan scored two goals and Javier Morales - fresh off signing a contract extension that will keep him with RSL through the 2012 season - added a goal and an assist, including the game winner, to lead the visitors to victory.
With the win, RSL stays in a tie for third in the Western conference table and keeps its playoff hopes alive. San Jose, on the other hand, is now stuck in the Western Conference basement and is five points from a guaranteed playoff spot. The loss also snapped a nine-game unbeaten run for the 'Quakes.
Movsisyan got things going early, scoring the game's first goal just three minutes in, but San Jose's Darren Huckerby equalized 20 minutes later before giving the home side a 2-1 advantage two minutes after the break.
That lead was short-lived, however, because Movsisyan scored the equalizer just two minutes later.
Morales closed out the scoring with a free-kick goal just before the hour mark to make it 3-2.
San Jose (7-10-8) will try to get back into playoff contention when it plays at FC Dallas on Thursday while RSL (9-10-7) plays at New England next Saturday in its next league fixture.
