Sabbatini leads Johnson at Texas Open

Sabbatini rolled in a 14-foot birdie at the 18th hole to take a one-shot lead over Zach Johnson at 14-under-par 196 heading into the final round at LaCantera Golf Club.

Johnson fired an eight-under 62 and also birdied the 18th hole to vault from a tie for 22nd place into solo second at 13-under 197.

Stroud grabs first at Texas Open

Stroud finished 36 holes at 10-under 130 and is two shots ahead in this, his first time as a midway leader on the PGA Tour.

Paul Goydos, who lost to Sergio Garcia in a playoff at The Players Championship, shot a four-under 66 and is tied for second place with four-time PGA Tour winner Tim Herron (67) and Tim Petrovic (65). The trio is knotted at minus-eight.

Back in June, Compton had his second heart transplant. Yup, you read that correctly, his second heart transplant. In addition to improving his health, will heart No. 3 be the key to Comptons's success on the course? Only time will tell.

An accomplished amateur golfer, Compton has won on a pair of smaller tours -- the Canadian Tour and the Hooters Tour -- but is hoping to again have the chance to break through and win on the Nationwide Tour, or for that matter, the PGA Tour.

You should have seen the size of The Champ's knuckles.

Minutes later, I found myself resisting the boozy urge to sing along to "Just Like Heaven" while sitting several feet away from The Champ. Still formidable looking in retirement, he didn't have a face that screamed, "Sing as loud as you want. I am also a Cure fan." Buena Vista Social Club would have been more appropriate, I suppose. Or something bluesy, something spiritual and haunted like Blind Willie Johnson. Something someone who'd been beaten one hundred times could relate to. But also something relatable to someone who'd beaten one hundred men.

Singh to miss time with forearm injury

Doctors recommended Singh rest his arm after a diagnosis of left forearm tendinitis.

Villegas rallies for playoff win at Tour Championship

Villegas closed with a four-under 66, that included eight birdies, to post seven-under-par 273. Garcia, playing one group behind Villegas, shot one-over 71 to join Villegas in the playoff.

World No. 2 Phil Mickelson had a chance to get into the playoff, but missed a 19-foot birdie putt on the 18th at East Lake to close a round of one-under 69 that left him tied for third at minus-six.
