Liang, Sterne share lead at Hong Kong Open

Chinese Taipei's Lin Wen-tang and Frankie Minoza of the Philippines stood one shot back at five-under 65, while European Ryder Cup player Oliver Wilson of England led a four-way tie at four-under 66.

Overall, there were 44 players who were within five shots of the leaders after the first round at Hong Kong Golf Club. They included John Daly (68), Colin Montgomerie (68), Bernhard Langer (69), Paul Lawrie (69) and Jose Maria Olazabal (69).

Singh completed the tournament at seven-under-par 277, one stroke clear of a pair of major champions.

Els completed his first round in the morning -- play was also marred by a lightning storm on Thursday -- and finished off a five-under 66 that gave him the lead over Chih Bing Lam of Singapore.

One of the lucky players to complete his second round before another storm stopped play Friday, Els had a one-under 70 to move into the clubhouse lead at six-under-par 136.

"It just feels good to be here, I guess I played very solidly and hit quite a number of greens and holed some good putts," noted Lam. "I'm very thrilled." The first round was delayed by slightly over two hours because of lightning. The second half of tee times did not complete round one and will return Friday to finish the round.

Garcia and Stenson stood at 10-under-par 134 when the second round was finally completed after more than 24 hours of weather delays pushed its start back to Saturday.

The third round began, but was suspended soon after as darkness settled in on Sheshan International Golf Club. Garcia and Stenson were among the 30 players in an elite field of 76 who hadn't teed off yet in the third round.

Sheshan International Golf Club was rendered unplayable by the persistent rainfall and, after several efforts to push the round back, it was decided to suspend play for the day.

The round will resume at 6:45 a.m. local time Saturday morning (5:45 p.m. ET on Friday) with groups going off the No. 1 and No. 10 tees. The tournament director said the main objective was to get in a full 72 holes.

Kjeldsen finished the tournament at eight-under 276 and won the championship by two strokes over Martin Kaymer (68) and Anthony Wall (69) at a soggy Valderrama.

The third round was completed Sunday morning and then the players went back out for the final round. There was some rain on Sunday, but the final round was contested under mostly sunny skies.

Garcia posted a four-under 67 on Sunday to win the inaugural Castello Masters Costa Azahar. He finished at 20-under 264 and won by three at Club de Campo del Mediterraneo, his home course and the site of his first tournament in the role of host.

"It means so much," said Garcia, who won this year's Players Championship on the PGA Tour. "It was something extremely special for me and my family. To come out on top, and do it playing well like I did, it was awesome." Garcia first played this course when he was three years old. He is now the tournament's first winner and dedicated the victory to his ailing fellow countryman, Seve Ballesteros.
