Broncos sign WR Jackson

The 29-year-old receiver spent seven seasons with the Seattle Seahawks before being traded to San Francisco last season. The 49ers acquired Jackson in a draft-day trade last April, and in 15 games, he caught 46 passes for 497 yards with three touchdowns.

The veteran has recorded 487 catches for 6,942 yards with 50 touchdowns and three 1,000-yard seasons over eight NFL campaigns.

Eskimos' Bradley retires

Bradley spent his entire six year pro career with Edmonton, developing into a double threat as both a running back and kick returner.

Originally signed as a free agent in 2002, Brown was a part of two Grey Cup champions with the Eskimos.

Sonnanstine (2-1) scattered just three hits, walked a batter and fanned four in the effort as the Rays won for the second time in three games.

"I felt like tonight I did exactly what I planned," Sonnanstine said. "Everything looked sharper because I was throwing more fastballs. I felt like my fastball was coming out of my hand pretty well."

In Game 5 on Thursday, Boston scored four goals in the third to win 5-1, and stave off elimination. In Game 6, the Bruins did the same to tie the best-of- seven series at three games apiece. The seventh and final game is now set for Monday in Montreal.

Marco Sturm, Milan Lucic, and Vladimir Sobotka all tallied for the Bruins, while Tim Thomas stopped 31-of-35 shots in the win.

Koivu returns from broken foot for Game 6

Koivu suffered a fractured bone in his left foot on March 28, and has been out since, missing Montreal's past nine games dating back to the regular season.

The 33-year-old Koivu had 16 goals and 40 assists in 77 games this season and has 36 points (13 goals, 23 assists) in 43 career playoff games.

Braun surprises with pole in Mexico City

The pole was the first of Braun's three-race Nationwide career. He started one race last year finishing 30th at Memphis Motorsports Park and earlier this year started ninth and finished 15th at Nashville.

Despite the young age Braun has already won two championships - Formula Renault 1600 at the age of 14 and then in a Formula 2000 in the Formula TR Series. At only 17 years nine months, and seven days old, he became the youngest driver in North America to win a major league motor race when he won the Brumos 250 at Daytona International Speedway in the Grand Am Rolex Daytona Prototype Series.

Calzaghe (45-0) rebounded from a first-round knockdown at the hands of "The Executioner" to seemingly win easy, however one judge did give the 43-year-old Hopkins the fight by a score of 114-113. The other two judges scored in favor of the 36-year-old from Newbridge, though, 116-111 and 115-112.

Hopkins (48-5-1) floored the favored Calzaghe in the first round, but was dominated for much of the fight, and suffered his first loss since dropping consecutive decisions to Jermain Taylor in July and December 2005.

War Pass injured, will miss Kentucky Derby

War Pass, the winner of the 2007 Breeders' Cup Juvenile, has a small fracture in the sesamoid of his left front ankle, according to trainer Nick Zito. The three-year-old colt will likely be out of action for several months.

The injury may have occurred in the colt's most recent race, a second-place finish in the Wood Memorial at Aqueduct on April 5.

Ascot races included in Breeders' Cup Challenge

The three races are the Queen Elizabeth II Stales for three-year-olds and up, the Meon Valley Stud Fillies' Mile for two-year-old fillies and the Juddmonte Royal Lodge for colts and geldings. Each will be conducted on turf at one- mile.
