NASCAR penalizes teams of Riggs, Sauter
Daytona Beach, FL (Sports Network) - NASCAR issued six-race suspensions for the crew chiefs and car chiefs of both Scott Riggs and Johnny Sauter on Wednesday in connection for violations found from Sunday's Sprint Cup Series Coca-Cola 600 race at Lowe's Motor Speedway.
Bootie Barker and Derick Jennings of Riggs' team, and Dave Skog and Thomas Harris of Sauter's squad were not only given a six-race suspension until July 9, but they were also placed on probation until the end of the year.
The cars of both Riggs and Sauter were in violation because the rear wings for their cars were both altered.
Riggs and Sauter were each penalized 150 driver points. The owners of both cars, Joe Custer and Margaret Haas, were each penalized 150 owner points. Additionally, Barker and Skog each have been fined $100,000.
