  • Edwards wins Phoenix, Bowyer overcomes wreck to finish fourth


    Avondale, AZ (Sports Network) - Carl Edwards inched closer towards Clint Bowyer for the Nationwide Series championship with a victory in Saturday's Hefty Odor Block 200 at Phoenix International Raceway. The No.60 Roush Fenway Racing Ford driver led the final 78 laps and held off a hard-charging Denny Hamlin in a green-white-checkered finish.

    The victory was Edwards' sixth of the season and the 19th of his Nationwide career.

    Kevin Harvick came in third, while Bowyer overcame a wreck midway through the race to finish fourth. Bowyer holds a 56-point lead heading into next week's season-finale at Homestead.

    Kyle Busch completed the top-five.
