NFL Europe Players of the Week
New York, NY (Sports Network) - Running back ANTHONY WHITE of the Arizona Cardinals, defensive end DWAYNE MISSOURI of the Dallas Cowboys and kick returner COREY ALSTON of the New York Jets have earned NFL Europe League Offensive, Defensive, and Special Teams Player of the Week honors for games played the 10th week of the season (June 15), the league announced today.
White earned offensive honors for his role in helping the Berlin Thunder clinch a World Bowl berth with a 27-7 win over the Frankfurt Galaxy. The Cardinals' back rushed for 197 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 7.0 yards per carry.
"Clinching a place in the World Bowl feels great," White said. "But we will not be happy until we finish the season by winning a championship."
Defensive honors went to Missouri, who helped the Berlin defense limit Frankfurt to seven points, and the Thunder to dominate the time of possession battle. Missouri finished the game with six tackles, two sacks and one forced fumble.
Special teams honors were taken by the Rhein Fire's Alston, who returned a kickoff 87 yards for a touchdown in a 28-10 loss to Amsterdam. The Jets' kick returner led the league with two kickoff return touchdowns this season and his 28.1-yard return average ranked second.
German defensive back LELAN BRICKUS of the Thunder earned national honors for the third consecutive week, becoming the first player to accomplish the feat. Brickus returned an interception 63 yards and had four tackles against Frankfurt.
