  • NFL Europe weekly honors awarded to Jackson, Shivers and Dorsch

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Buffalo Bills running back FREDRICK JACKSON and New York Giants safety JASON SHIVERS and punter TRAVIS DORSCH are the NFL Europe League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the 10th and final week of the season (May 20), the league announced today.

Jackson had 22 carries for 154 yards, the highest single-game total in the league this year, in the Rhein Fire's 21-10 victory over the Cologne Centurions. On Rhein's first play from scrimmage, Jackson raced down the field for an 80-yard touchdown run, the third-longest rushing play in NFL Europe history.

The Coe College product finished the season ranked second in the league with 731 rushing yards and was one of only two players with 1,000 yards from scrimmage (1,048 yards).

"I'm really proud of the way this team played," said Fire head coach JIM TOMSULA. "They played hard all year."

Shivers recorded five tackles, three passes defensed and returned a fumble 45 yards for a touchdown to help the Hamburg Sea Devils defeat the Amsterdam Admirals 34-21 and win their final three games.

The former Arizona State star was a big part of the Hamburg defense that forced five turnovers and scored two touchdowns.

"It was nice to create turnovers that resulted in points," said Sea Devils defensive coordinator DAN DANIEL. "I am proud of the way the defense played."

Dorsch averaged 44.7 yards on six punts, placing two inside the 20-yard line with a long of 60 yards in Rhein's victory over Cologne.

The former Purdue punter ranked second in NFL Europe with a 35.2 net yard average.

Cologne linebacker PHILIPPE GARDENT was named National Player of the Week, the second time he has been honored this season (Defensive Player of Week 1).

The French linebacker recorded a team-best 10 tackles against Rhein, finishing the year with a league-best 70 tackles.
