  • NFL Europe hands out weekly awards

New York, NY (Sports Network) - Running back DEREK HOMER of the Baltimore Ravens, defensive end MIKE SUTTON of the Amsterdam Admirals and kicker JESUS ANGOY of the F.C. Barcelona Dragons are the NFL Europe League Offensive, Defensive and Special Teams Players of the Week for games played the third week of the season (April 27).

Homer earned offensive honors for his role in the Dragons' 30-27 win over Amsterdam. Homer rushed for 89 yards, including a three-yard touchdown run, while averaging 6.4 yards per carry in helping the Dragons to their first win of the season.

The Ravens' running back also added three receptions for 43 yards.

"To succeed, you need to run the ball and we established our running attack," said Dragons head coach JACK BICKNELL. "Our running backs played extremely well and I'm very happy for them."

Sutton earned defensive honors for his play along the Admirals' defensive line. The former Louisiana State standout had 3.0 sacks, seven tackles and one forced fumble in Amsterdam's three-point loss in Barcelona. Sutton leads NFL Europe with 4.0 sacks through three games.

Special teams honors went to F.C. Barcelona kicker Angoy. He connected on three of four field goals, including a 24-yard game-winner with 18 seconds remaining. The wining kick gave Angoy 247 career points, making him NFL Europe's all-time leading scorer.

German wide receiver JRG HECKENBACH earned National Player honors in Week 3 for a four-catch, 96-yard effort for the Berlin Thunder in a 20-16 loss to the Rhein Fire. Heckenbach leads Berlin with 167 yards receiving this season and ranks third in NFL Europe.
