  • Cleveland Browns 2008 Training Camp Preview

By Tony Moss, NFL Editor (Sports Network) - REPORT DATES: Rookies July 23rd, Veterans July 23rdSITE: Cleveland Browns Training Facility, Berea, OHCAMP OBJECTIVES: The Browns possess one of the most exciting young offenses in the league, but Romeo Crennel and his staff know that if they don't identify the right defensive mix during training camp, those playoff hopes could go up in flames. Newly-acquired d-tackles Corey Williams (Packers) and Shaun Rogers (Lions) must prove they're worth the steep price the franchise paid for them, and it is hoped that their presence will help free up the sub-standard pass rush of a year ago. Cleveland is extremely thin at corner behind No. 1 CB Eric Wright, and needs veteran newcomers like Jereme Perry (Dolphins) and Terry Cousin (Jaguars) to quell the fears of Crennel and new coordinator Mel Tucker. The offense looks to be in good shape, especially following the addition of Donte' Stallworth (Patriots) to the receiving corps. Derek Anderson appears set as the starting QB, but the heat could get turned up at camp if he struggles and Brady Quinn performs well.
