  • Report: Jets agree to long-term deal with Rhodes

New York, NY (Sports Network) - The New York Jets have reportedly agreed to terms with safety Kerry Rhodes on a long-term contract.

The New York Daily News cites two people with knowledge of the deal as saying the contract is worth $33.5 million over five years. The report adds that $20 million is guaranteed.

Rhodes would not have been eligible for unrestricted free agency until after the 2009 season.

The 25-year-old Louisville product has started all 16 games in each of his first three NFL seasons, accumulating 10 interceptions with 270 tackles. He had a career-high five picks with a pair of sacks and 67 tackles last season.
