COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Northwestern has won three of its last four games to move to 4-3 in Big Ten play and 7-4 overall but still are seven-point underdogs at home against Wisconsin. The Wildcats outplayed Illinois on the road last week in a spot they could have easily faltered coming off the huge upset win over Iowa. And don't forget the Fighting Illini came into that match up on a two-game winning streak.

Wisconsin is 3-2 in its last five (8-2 overall) with the lone two losses coming against Iowa and Ohio State. The Badgers are currently in a three-way tie for second place in the conference with the Hawkeyes and Penn State at 5-2.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Robinson sat after taking a vicious hit at the end of last week's win over Texas Tech, and Brandon Weeden threw for 168 yards and two touchdowns on 10- of-15 passing for Oklahoma State (9-2, 6-1 Big 12), which kept its slim hopes for a BCS berth alive with its third straight win.

Weeden played only the second half after starter Alex Cate went 0-for-9 passing with an interception in the first half. Perrish Cox added a punt return for a touchdown in the victory.

  • The Cougars rallied for wins in each of their two prior games, but last weekend, they ran out of steam and were knocked off by UCF, 37-32, in Orlando.

"Obviously, we're not happy with the events, everything that took place and the performance of last weekend," said coach Kevin Sumlin. "We had a chance early in the game to take control of it, but we did not do that." The loss was costly in a couple of different ways, as it took away any hope of a BCS bowl berth and put a huge dent in the team's chances of reaching the Conference USA title game. It also snapped a five-game winning streak by the Cougars, who now sit a game back of SMU for the West Division lead. Houston defeated SMU earlier this season, so it owns the tiebreaker, but still needs the

  • Since losing back-to-back games to Ohio State and Iowa in mid-October, the Badgers have won three straight decisions and that includes a 45-24 triumph of Michigan this past weekend.

"This is just a great win for us to close out one of the greatest venues in college football as a fan," said head coach Bret Bielema. "To give our fans this, to beat Michigan in our season finale at Camp Randall is awesome." The 45 points were the most Wisconsin has scored in 73 meetings against Michigan. The Badgers have now won 30 straight games when scoring at least 30 points, as they sit at 8-2 overall and 5-2 within the conference. Wisconsin will wrap up its regular season campaign on December 5th, when it takes on Hawaii.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Beavers continued to roll last weekend, as they trounced Washington by a 48-21 score to complete their home slate. It was the third win in a row and the fifth in six games for OSU, which moved to the No. 20 spot in the national rankings at 7-3 overall.

What made last weekend's win even bigger was the fact that both USC and Arizona lost, and those were the only two teams to defeat OSU in seven league games this season. That means if the Beavers win their last two games and Arizona losses one of its next three, OSU would surprisingly earn the conference's bid to the Rose Bowl for the first time in 45 seasons. It would be a remarkable accomplishment for a team that was mostly an afterthought in the title race. The Beavers have league-leading Oregon in their final bout on Decemb

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Hokies have enjoyed another solid campaign, but unlike the past two years, they won't be participating in the ACC championship game, as Georgia Tech will represent the Coastal Division by virtue of its 7-1 finish within the conference. Still, VT has a lot to play for and it came away with a convincing 36-9 triumph over Maryland last weekend.

"We've still got a chance for 10 wins," said head coach Frank Beamer, who has led VT to five straight double-digit win campaigns.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Cowboys have enjoyed a terrific campaign up to this point and they are coming off another solid win, capturing a 24-17 victory over Texas Tech this past weekend.

"I'm very proud of our football team," said head coach Mike Gundy. "Obviously, we've had great games with Texas Tech over the years." The win was the team's second in a row following OSU's lone league loss to Texas back in late October. At 5-1, the Cowboys remain in sole possession of second place in the Big 12 South standings, with only rival Oklahoma remaining on their regular season schedule.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • TCU, which is one of six teams still undefeated in the FBS and ranked fourth in the current BCS standings, has already taken care of the tougher opponents in the league with a 38-7 romp over BYU and last week's 55-28 thumping of Utah at home. The Frogs are a perfect 6-0 in conference obviously, and have run their overall win streak to 12 straight games dating back to last season.

Next week, TCU will close out the regular season with a home date against a New Mexico that up until the start of this week had yet to win a single game this season.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Chip Kelly's Ducks (6-1) are a full game ahead of both Arizona and Stanford in the conference standings with two games to play. Winning out would assure the team captures the Pac-10 crown, earning a spot in the Rose Bowl. Oregon moved into this position with last weekend's 44-21 rout of Arizona State.

Mike Stoops is enjoying a stellar season in Tucson, as the Wildcats are 4-2 in league play with three games to go. Arizona made things tougher on itself with last week's 24-16 loss at California. Still, if the Wildcats win out, it will be Arizona that earns the spot in the Rose Bowl.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • As one of the three nationally-ranked programs in the MWC at the moment, the Utes could have turned more than a few heads last weekend when they went up against highly-touted TCU in Fort Worth. Unfortunately, the outcome by no means favored Utah as the Horned Frogs ripped off a 55-28 victory and remained in the hunt for a coveted BCS bowl berth. At 8-2 overall and 5-1 in conference play, the Utes will still appear in the postseason, but to this point they haven't ruined anyone else's party.

As for the Aztecs, they too can still make it to the postseason, but the squad has to win the final two games of the regular season and then pray that they get the call with a mere six wins. Last

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Scarlet Knights opened the 2009 campaign with a 47-15 loss to Cincinnati and have been trying to climb back to respectability ever since. Finally it has happened, thanks to three straight wins and victories in seven of the last eight outings overall.

Back on November 12th, the team hosted South Florida and took advantage of countless Bulls' miscues en route to a 31-0 rout, the second time this season Rutgers has issued a shutout.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Broncos have this meeting and battles against Nevada and New Mexico State still remaining in the regular season and after that the squad is expecting to get an invite to a quality bowl event. However, not only is BSU fighting the rest of the WAC, the squad is also competing against TCU in the BCS standings, so the road will not be a smooth one.

Last weekend, the Broncos turned in another strong offensive performance with a 63-25 win against Idaho for in-state bragging rights.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Last weekend the Cougars, one of three teams in the league currently ranked in the AP's Top-25, went up against one of the weakest teams in all of college football and almost watched the New Mexico Lobos snap their 13-game losing streak. Instead, BYU managed to slip by the home team with a narrow 24-19 triumph in Albuquerque. The win was the second in a row and the sixth in seven outings for a team who has fallen only to TCU and Florida State in 2009.

As for the Falcons, already eligible for a bowl berth, they ran their MWC mark to 5-2 on Saturday with a 45-17 blowout of UNLV at home in Colorado. For the academy it was the third straight win and the fourth in five games as they finish up their regular season this week

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The Golden Bears have won four of their last five games to move to 7-3 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Last weekend, they found a way to knock off a strong Arizona squad by a 24-16 final in front of the home crowd.

"We talked all week about the seniors' last opportunity to go down the tunnel and come back up that tunnel and how we wanted to come back into that locker room," said Cal coach Jeff Tedford after the win over Arizona. "Those guys have done a lot for this football program. To see them go out this way at home is very deserving." Stanford extended its current winning streak to three games with a 55-21 romp over USC last weekend, and the 55 points were the most ever scored against a USC team. That victory guaran

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Virginia brings a four-game losing streak into this contest, and that slide has dropped the Cavaliers to 3-7 overall and 2-4 in ACC play. At one point, the club was 2-0 in conference, so the sudden decline is clearly disappointing. Last weekend, a shaky offensive performance led to a 14-10 loss to Boston College. Surprisingly, however, head coach Al Groh seemed happy overall with the effort of his team.

"We made a lot of progress with our team today," said Groh after the game. "I'm proud of the effort the players put into it and the fight they showed. We've been working for 10 months to have a performance like that." The Tigers can clinch the ACC Atlantic Division with a victory over Virginia. The team is 7-3 overall and 5-2 in ACC play, thanks to five consecutive victories. Last weekend, Clemson cruised to a 43-23 deci

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Penn State is 9-2 overall and owns a 5-2 Big Ten Conference record, somewhat disappointing for a team that figured to contend for the league crown. Last weekend, the Nittany Lions bounced back from a loss to Ohio State with a 31-20 victory over Indiana. They have won all three of their road games so far this season, so there is reason for confidence heading into Saturday's affair.

As for Michigan State, it enters this game with a 6-5 record, and while the team is already eligible for a bowl game, a victory over Penn State would certainly strengthen the postseason prospects of the Spartans. They have won their last two outings, including a 40-37 decision over Purdue last Saturday. Michigan State is 4-3 in Big Ten play and owns a 4-2 record at home this season.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Last Saturday, Ohio State won its fifth consecutive Big Ten title with a 27-24 overtime victory over Iowa. The Buckeyes earned a trip to the Rose Bowl, as head coach Jim Tressel continues to lead his team to a BCS Bowl on a yearly basis. The victory was the fourth in a row for OSU, which is 9-2 overall and 6-1 in league play.

Michigan opened the season with four consecutive victories, giving fans of the proud program the impression that last season's struggles were simply an aberration. Unfortunately, six of the last seven outings for the Wolverines have ended in defeat, including four in a row, and coach Rich Rodriguez is feeling the wrath of Wolverine supporters who feel that he isn't the man for the job. Last weekend, Michigan was simply no match for Wisconsin

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Minnesota has won two of its last three games to move to 6-5 overall and earn bowl eligibility. The Golden Gophers were most recently in action last weekend, and they were far from impressive in a 16-13 victory over South Dakota State, a FCS club. This weekend's affair marks the final regular season tilt on the schedule for Minnesota.

Iowa was in complete control of the Big Ten two weeks ago, but a 17-10 home loss to Northwestern on November 7th and a 27-24 overtime setback to Ohio State last weekend crushed the Hawkeyes' dreams. They are out of the national title race and can only claim a share of the Big Ten crown with a win over Minnesota and an improbable Ohio State loss to Michigan. Still, even if that scenario occurs, the Rose Bowl is out of the question.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Chattanooga closes out its regular season on Saturday and carries a 6-4 record into the tilt. Last time out, the club knocked off The Citadel by a 31-28 final, the second victory in the last three outings. Still, the fact that the club has lost by double figures to the likes of Elon, Georgia Southern, Furman and Appalachian State suggests that this game won't be close.

As for Alabama, it improved to 10-0 overall and 7-0 in SEC play with a 31-3 romp over Mississippi State last weekend. The Crimson Tide has already captured the SEC West Division title and will take on Florida in the SEC Championship Game. Still, the Tide need to take care of business against Chattanooga and Auburn in the finale to remain on course to keep their national title hopes alive. The proud program has wo

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Mack Brown's Longhorns moved to 10-0 on the year with last week's 47-14 drubbing of Baylor in Waco. With the victory over the Bears, UT posted its ninth straight season with at least 10 victories, the longest streak in the nation. Texas seeks back-to-back 11-win campaigns for just the third time in school history and is closing in on the Big 12 South title, leading Oklahoma State by a game in the standings with two left on the docket.

Standing in UT's way is the struggling Kansas Jayhawks. It has been a tale of two seasons for Mark Mangino's team, which has spoiled a 5-0 start to the year, with five consecutive losses, including last week's 31-17 setback against Nebraska.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • Typically the doormat of the ACC, Duke has taken a step forward this season to removing that label. Last weekend, the Blue Devils had a chance to put themselves in position for the Coastal Division title, but instead were blasted, 49-10, by highly-ranked Georgia Tech, which clinched the division crown with the win.

"Today, was probably the first time we have seen Duke in quite some time not play very well in all three phases," said head coach David Cutcliffe.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • The defending national champions are a perfect 10-0 on the season and bring the nation's longest win streak (20 games) into this week's action. The team closed out a flawless SEC slate with last weekend's 24-14 win over South Carolina. It marked the first time Florida has gone undefeated in SEC play since 1996.

Mario Cristobal's Panthers are in way over their heads in this one, as the team has struggled to a 3-7 record thus far, including a 3-4 mark in Sun Belt Conference play. However, the team has played well of late, posting two wins in the last three outings, including a 35-28 decision over North Texas this past weekend.

COLLEGE FOOTBALL

  • LSU improved to 8-2 overall with a closer-than-expected, 24-16 victory over Louisiana Tech last weekend. The only two losses suffered by the Tigers this season have come against Florida and Alabama, arguably the two best teams in the nation, and Les Miles' team was competitive in both defeats. Only a November 28th home game against Arkansas remains on the regular-season docket after this weekend's clash for LSU.

Ole Miss failed to live up to lofty preseason hype early on and was somewhat of a forgotten team. Fortunately, the Rebels continued to push on, and four of their last five outings have resulted in victory. They moved to 7-3 overall with last weekend's impressive 42-17 romp over Tennessee, and they will close out the regular season against rival Mississippi State next week.

  • In a story first reported by KUsports.com and later confirmed by the Lawrence Journal-World, Perkins held a private meeting with the team Monday evening in which he disclosed Mangino was to be the subject of an internal review.

While the nature of the concerns remain undisclosed, Perkins confirmed Tuesday in a statement that a review is underway.
