BC Lions extend Buono
Vancouver, BC (Sports Network) - The British Columbia Lions signed head coach/general manager Wally Buono to a contract extension on Monday.
Buono is entering his sixth season with the Lions and had led the club to five straight playoff appearances, including the Grey Cup in 2006.
"Wally's accomplishments over the past 30 years as a player, coach and GM speak for themselves," Lions CEO Bob Ackles said. "His coaching style, his dedication to excellence and his ability to get the very best from everyone in the organization make him highly respected across the CFL and I am excited about what the future holds with Wally leading the way."
A three time CFL coach of the year, Buono piloted the Lions to a franchise- record 14 wins last season and is second on the CFL's career wins list with 216.
"My time in B.C. has been tremendously rewarding and I am looking forward to earning another championship for fans of the Lions," Buono said.
