Dupree, Sky earn OT win over Detroit
Chicago, IL (Sports Network) - Candice Dupree logged 24 points, eight rebounds and seven assists as the Chicago Sky took down the Detroit Shock, 82-81 in overtime.
Sylvia Fowles contributed a double-double of 10 points and 12 rebounds for the Sky, who have rattled off three straight wins. Jia Perkins added 15 points for the victors.
Katie Smith led Detroit with 23 points to become the third player in WNBA history to reach 5,000 points but missed a game-winning three-pointer in the waning seconds of overtime.
Taj McWilliams-Franklin chipped in 11 points and 11 rebounds, while Deanna Nolan netted 18 points on 8-of-11 shooting from the field, as Detroit fell two games behind Connecticut for first place in the Eastern Conference.
Smith now has 5,022 points and trails only Lisa Leslie (5,853) and Tina Thompson (5,281) on the all-time scoring list.
