Bucks can Krystkowiak after less than two seasons
Milwaukee, WI (Sports Network) - One day after losing their eighth straight game to close out the regular season, the Milwaukee Bucks announced Thursday that head coach Larry Krystkowiak has been relieved of his duties.
Krystkowiak met with Bucks general manager John Hammond at the team's training center in St. Francis, where he was informed of his firing. Milwaukee will begin conducting its search for a new head coach immediately.
The Bucks finished a disappointing 26-56 campaign Wednesday night, losing a 110-101 overtime game at the hands of the lowly Minnesota Timberwolves.
Krystkowiak replaced former head man Terry Stotts on March 14, 2007, and went 31-69 in less than two seasons on the Milwaukee sidelines. The former University of Montana coach was originally hired as a Bucks assistant to Stotts in June of 2006 -- three months after he led Montana to its second straight NCAA Tournament and a first-round upset of Nevada.
Prior to returning to Montana, his alma mater, Krystkowiak coached with the CBA's Idaho Stampede (2003-04), and was an assistant at Norfolk (VA) Collegiate High School (2002-03), Old Dominion University (2001-02), and Montana (1998-2000).
As a player, Krystkowiak played nine NBA seasons with six teams, averaging 8.2 points, 4.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists in 420 career games.
