Yankees' Chamberlain activated
Baltimore, MD (Sports Network) - New York Yankees pitcher Joba Chamberlain was activated in time for Saturday's game against Baltimore. The Orioles went on to beat the Yankees, 6-0, though Chamberlain pitched a scoreless inning of relief.
The reliever left the Yankees, and was placed on the bereavement list Monday, after learning his father, Harlan, had collapsed at his Nebraska home.
To make room on the roster, the Yankees sent pitcher Edwar Ramirez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre of the International League.
Chamberlain is 1-0 and has not allowed a run in five outings with the Yankees this season. Last year, the flame-thrower burst on to the major league scene with a 2-0 record and a 0.38 earned run average in 19 games.
